History of the Park & Lake
The cycling track exists thanks to a broader urban project built between 1955–1956 as part of Tirana’s modernization. The artificial lake was created with volunteer labor with a 400-meter dam.
Originally, the area served as a recreational escape during the communist era, a gathering space for thousands of residents on weekends. Today, it has evolved into Tirana’s main outdoor sports hub, a daily destination for cyclists, runners, and families.
The park is considered the primary running & cycling location in Tirana frequented by hundreds of users per hour during peak times, known as one of the most Strava-active zones in Albania.
