After some pause days dictated by remote work, it felt incredible to be back in the capital and back on the bike. There’s no better way to shake off the work-from-home blues than by hitting the streets of Tirana at night, especially during the festive season. The city is alive with lights, colors, and the general cheer of people enjoying the holiday spirit!
For this ride, I decided to take out the FPV camera to capture a truly immersive perspective of the city’s Christmas decorations. The distinct, floating-just-ahead-of-the-handlebars view offers a unique way to see the magic of Tirana by night.
The Route: A Festive Tour of the Capital
The ride took me through some of Tirana’s most iconic illuminated spots:
New Main Boulevard
: The starting point, bustling with lights and a festive atmosphere.
Skanderbeg Square
: The heart of the city, glowing with the main Christmas tree and surrounding decorations.
Boulevard (Dëshmorët e Kombit)
: A classic stretch of road, beautifully lit up for the holidays.
Air Albania Stadium
: A modern landmark adding to the city’s dynamic night profile.
Piramida of Tirana
: The recently revitalized landmark, showcasing its unique architecture against the night sky.
The air was crisp and clear, and the energy of the people cheering and enjoying the sights was infectious. It was a beautiful ride, a perfect return to motion, and a reminder of how vibrant Tirana can be during this magical time of year.
